The Board approved Vocational Nursing program is offered every June and January of each year. Graduates of Xavier College’s VN program are eligible to take the licensing examination to become Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN).
Hours of Instruction: The student attends a total of 1537 hours in 11 months (classes 3pm to 10pm; clinical practice 7am to 3:30pm and one evening per week from 3pm to 11:30pm). Beginning on the 5th month, students’ clinical practice includes Saturdays. Clinical sites are in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities and school district health services in the Stockton and Lodi area.
Courses include: Fundamentals of Nursing; Anatomy & Physiology; Nutrition; Pharmacological Nursing; Human Development; Gerontology Nursing; Mental Health, Nursing; Medical Surgical Nursing; Maternity Nursing; Pediatrics Nursing; Nursing Leadership and Supervision.
The faculty and instructors are Board-approved educators who are active in their professional practice. Students’ clinical practice is in Board-approved long-term care (nursing homes) facilities and acute care hospitals in the Stockton area.
